Shine Don't Whine

The night sky is breathtaking. I think of God's love and His promise to Abraham.
Genesis 28:3 "I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars."
For fun, I researched star classifications. After all, God created them, and his Word states we can shine like stars in the universe, but there is a catch.
Philippians 2:14-15 "Do everything without grumbling or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure 'children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.' Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky."

Stars are given classifications according to their surface temperature and brightness. The classes are O, B, A, F, G, K, and M. The O stars are the hottest, M stars the coolest.
•           O stars are rare but bright.
•           M stars are numerous but dim.
•           Our sun’s classification is somewhere in the middle.

Since O is the hottest and most rare, I classified it as Obedient. Complete obedience to God is rare. Oh, to always be obedient to the Master, a bright light to lead many to righteousness, as stated in Daniel 12:3.
“And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
We can achieve this wisdom through the promises of God.
The more numerous yet weaker stars are Mediocre
No one wants to be mediocre with low quality, ability, or performance. Notice the word mediocre begins with "me".
When we are me-focused, our light disappears into a black hole and we are not fulfilling God's purpose for our lives.
God warns us about mediocrity in Revelation 3:16
“So, because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”
I don’t want to leave a bad taste in the mouth of my Lord and be spit out because of discontentment, do you?
So how do we keep our light bright in the midst of clouds caused by the storms in us and around us?
How do we shine when we feel burnt out?
We turn to God's Word and claim the promises of love, joy, peace, wisdom, wholeness, power, and Christlikeness.
The Word promises to change our attitude, but we must do the work to memorize it.
Do you need daily encouragement to shine? I know I do.
Here are a few promises to help us shine not whine.
What promise is your favorite?
